Spring Training – by John Tully

I spent the last week in Glendale, Arizona covering the Great Lakes Loons, a single-A minor league team based in Midland, spring training camp at the Los Angeles Dodgers Camelback Ranch sports facility. A reporter and I were sent to figure things out and find this season’s Loons prospect. After a few days coordinating where players could be found and doing a lot of walking, in 85ºF sunny weather, it was nice to be able to start shooting with a focus on specific players. While access to the Los Angeles Dodgers, especially the training room, wasn’t the greatest, I found I could basically do what I pleased with the minor league guys and it wasn’t even worth putting up a fight in an attempt to photograph the pros.
