Spent two days with Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes at Disney World for the fine folks at ESPN the Magazine specifically to get one photo. Hundreds of images, rides, and hours later, the frame picked for the ZOOM I shot in the first ten minutes. That’s how I roll.
Reyes was a genuinely fun and nice guy, and let me tag along as a Disney photo crew shot him and his family at the park as well, which was interesting as my assistant and our lights followed around another photographer and all their lights. My job was to try to get something real and candid and promotional photos were shot and to stay out of the way of the photo production going on, which was bizarre when you’re used to running the show. I was definitely a third wheel but everyone at Disney were awesome to work with so many cooks in the kitchen, and they have it down to such an amazingly well-oiled machine.
