USA Wins by Losing to Germany to Advance in World Cup – by Mark J. Rebilas

Phoenix-based photographer Mark J. Rebilas covered the USA vs. Germany World Cup match.

In the previous two USA games we had threats of rain showers but in both cases lucked out. I had hoped to make it all the way through the World Cup without having a rain game as my dumb ass had forgotten all my rain gear for my cameras back in the states. (Being from AZ and predominately a motorsports photographer, we never have to use rain gear so its never on my mind to pack)

After a nice sunny practice the day prior, I woke up to pouring rain on game day.

No big deal, its probably just going to rain for like an hour and clear up by game time I figured. I was wrong!

Within minutes of boarding the media bus to the Arena Pernambuco, the magnitude of the rain became very obvious.
