USA Defeats Ghana in World Cup Opener – by Mark J. Rebilas

USA vs Ghana

Ghana fans wave a flag in the grandstands prior to the match against USA during the 2014 World Cup at Estadio das Dunas.

Phoenix-based photographer Mark J. Rebilas covered the USA vs. Ghana World Cup match.

Anyone who has shot soccer before knows there is a lot of time with nothing important going on. The beginning of the game is usually like that as the teams slowly get started and begin to feel each other out.

With that in mind, what better time to send that group shot right?

Wrong!

While I was captioning the photo, Clint Dempsey would score a goal just 30 seconds into the match. Dammit!
Thankfully I was able to grab my camera and get a couple shots of the celebration.
