Philadelphia-based photographer Jack Megaw shares some of his most memorable images of 2013.

So here we are again, and like many photographers I know I am typing a pictures of the year blog. Over the last year I have taken several hundred thousand photographs and that is a lot of images to choose from. To say these images are ‘the best’ would be completely subjective (just ask any photographer who has entered a judged contest!) so instead of writing a ‘Best of 2013′ blog I have decided to write a blog on some of my most memorable images of the past year. The ones which I selected for one reason or another stand out to me from 2013.

Stoke City midfielder Brek Shea is sustains an ankle injury during a tackle by Philadelphia Union midfielder Matt Kassel. Kassel was booked for the challenge from behind and was criticised after the match by Stoke manager Mark Hughes for ‘breaking the code of playing in a friendly.’ Shea would be out for the first five weeks of the season.
