In My Bag – by Adrian Etheridge

Adrian EtheridgeAdrian Etheridge is a photojournalism student at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She is also a freelance photographer specializing in portraits, weddings, sports, food, and events. She works for the school athletic department shooting home events and promotions. She spent the summer working for the Laurel of Asheville magazine shooting assignments and events for the arts and culture publication. She also works for a local art museum photographing workshops and gallery opening and blogging to promote events. She owns her own small business working weddings, shooting portraits, and blogging about the local bohemian culture (seriously-creative.blogspot.com). You can find her on Facebook and her personal website.

While I go on a wide variety of assignments for work, I also spend quite a bit of time photographing for my classes. Thus, I have my “work bag” and “school bag” always packed. My work bag – the Courser Rucksack – consists of all of my digital equipment, plus a mini sewing kit that often comes in handy at weddings. My D7000 with 3 lenses allows me to be versatile shooting close-up portraits to telephoto shots, sometimes in the same setting (coach’s expressions and action on the opposite side of the field in soccer, for example.)

Equipment

My school bag – the Lowepro Hatchback – houses my film equipment. I get to be a little more tactile for my school assignments, and enjoy the creative break working with film gives me. My Vivitar V3800 has been my camera of choice since high school. I predominately shoot and develop my own black & white work, but occasionally play with Fujicolor when shooting portraits. My newest toy is the Polaroid 320 Land Camera. I’ve only had it for a few weeks, but am completely in love with the unique combination of instant and chemical photography.
