Frozen Dead Guy Coffin Races – by Matt Slaby

Denver-based freelance photographer and founding member of Luceo Images Matt Slaby shot the Coffin Races in Nederland, Colorado.

Another short post from a short shoot.  A few weeks ago I drove up to Nederland to meet friends Sol Neelman and Rob Mattson to photograph the Coffin Races in Nederland, Colorado.  The only problem was that I was running late.  Hours late.  I made it in time to photograph the tail end of the races before ugly weather set in.  The Coffin Races are part of Nederland’s Frozen Dead Guy Days, an event which “loosely celebrates” the town’s most unique resident: a dead man frozen, who has been frozen inside a tough shed for about 20 years.
