Cowboy Action Shooting – by Charlie Doerner

Tampa-based freelance photographer Charlie Doerner has been shooting a series on Cowboy Action Shooting.

Most of the work that I do is personal projects and shooting my daily life. It’s the best way that I know how to stay fresh and keep pushing my photography forward. My most recent project is about Cowboy Action Shooting. It is a sport in which people dress in era accurate cowboy attire and shoot single action pistols, rifles and shotguns in timed competition. The people that compete range from young to old and come from all across the country to compete. One of the best things about the sport is how tightly knit the community is. Everyone is always looking out for each other, lending a hand (or a gun) when someone needs help and cracking jokes with each other.
