Matt Slaby, a Denver-based freelancer and co-founder of Luceo Images, recently photographed a marijuana dispensary on assignment for The Wall Street Journal.

I just wrapped up an incredibly busy beginning of March with a couple day shoots for The Wall Street Journal.  One of the assignments just ran and, surprisingly, proved to be a difficult subject to photograph.  The challenge was to showcase a handful of Denver medical marijuana dispensaries that are pushing the envelope of stoner culture and getting beyond the Bob Marley-ish face of several of the area’s lower-end shops.  The resulting images are a short catalogue of a few of these dispensaries, details of their normal storefronts, products, and operations.  Kind of mundane, considering that their competition feels more like a flashing-lights weed carnival than a professional operation…
